Notable Days at Dow’s Lake

Winterlude

For three weekends in February, during Winterlude, Dows Lake becomes a gateway to the world's longest skating rink. This exciting celebration of winter and all it has to offer is enjoyed by thousands of people from near and far. Challenge yourself to skate the 7.6 kilometres from Dows Lake Pavilion to the National Arts Centre in downtown Ottawa. Upon your return, reward your effort with beverage and great food at one of our two fine restaurants.

Flotilla Day:

Flotilla is a part of the Tulip festival here in Ottawa.  It is a fantastic parade of boats down the Rideau Canal, and it starts at Dow’s Lake.  Expect to see gorgeously decorated boats in every size and shape floating down the canal and back on this day, usually the first long weekend in May.  Regular Marina season starts on the Tuesday after Flotilla, since we offer dockage space to all the boats involved.

Canada Day:

Canada day is without a doubt the second busiest time at Dow’s Lake Marina (Flotilla is the busiest).  We are an extremely popular destination during this holiday, so be sure to book your slip well in advance!  Also, expect line-ups for gas, since our gas dock can only accommodate one boat at a time.
