Rental Equipment

Our pedal boats are a fun and unique way to experience the joy of Dows Lake.  They can accommodate up to a maximum of 5 people, 2 adults and 2 to 3 children, depending on weight.  We provide the life jackets, you provide the fun!

Cost:

 Pedal boats cost $15.00 for the first hour, and $8.00 for every additional hour.  Prices include tax.

Canoes are a traditional Canadian boat.  They are open faced, and paddles are one – sided.  Typically, the person in the back steers the canoe.  Canoes have always been a popular rental item here at Dows Lake.  Our canoes are made by Clearwater Design; they are a hard plastic that resists cracks, and stands up to tough treatment.  We offer two versions, a standard model and a deluxe model. We provide lifejackets and paddles to anyone renting a canoe.  Please note that canoes accommodate either 2 adults and 2 small children, or 3 adults.

 Cost:

Standard Canoes cost $15.00 for the first hour, and  $8.00 for every additional hour.  Prices include taxes.

Deluxe Canoes cost $17.00 for the first hour, and $8.00 for every additional hour.  Prices include taxes.

We have several types of kayaks here at Dows Lake: the one-person, tandem and sea kayak.

Kayaks are a traditional Inuit boat, and are known for their manoeuvrability.  Our kayaks are open-faced; you cannot roll them without falling out or swamping your kayak.  Kayaks are steered with two-sided paddles.  Tandem kayaks seat one person behind the other.  We provide the lifejackets and paddles.  Please note that kayaks are not recommended for small children, since they are relatively easy to tip. 

 Cost:

One-person kayaks cost $15.00 for the first hour, and $8.00 for every additional hour.

Two person kayaks cost $17.00 for the first hour, and $8.00 for every additional hour.

Prices include taxes.

New to our lineup in 2003. These small rowboats can accommodate up to 3 people. Build by Pelican these little craft are double hulled and have build in footrests, allowing you to take a leisurely paddle around the lake.

Ottawa is well known for its extensive system of pathways, all of which you can explore on one of our bikes or in-line skates.  Whether you head south to explore the Experimental Farm, or along the canal path to the Parliament buildings, you’ll find this a great way to explore our nation’s capital.
