Winter is such a delightful time at Dows Lake Pavilion! The lake freezes over in late December, and after a long Autumn of inactivity, we come out of hibernation for the skating season. In wintertime Dows Lake and the Rideau canal become the worlds longest skating rink with over 7 kilometers of groomed ice taking skater from Dows lake to the National Arts Center and back again.
For more information on activities that are happening at Dows Lake and along the Rideau Canal please contact the N.C.C. Website

RE: School Groups - Winter Skating Trips: January - March, 2009
Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate any requests to provide indoor skate changing facilities as the space no longer exists.
However, we shall be erecting our geodesic domes on the ice again this year. If you are unfamiliar with these structures, they are two (2) large, igloo shaped tents, which the general public are encouraged to use as a sheltered area to change into their skates. We hope this will not deter anyone's plans for a great day of skating, although, we strongly suggest monitoring the weather forecast and have everyone dress accordingly.

Skate rentals, sleigh rentals, and skate sharpening will still be provided from a remote office located directly on the ice.
